Message from another resident:

We are looking for care for our 2 kids (7 & 10) in September and for the School year. The kids are self-sufficient and really just need supervision once home from school. Looking for someone who can be at the house around 3:00 to meet the kids until I am home around 5 pm (kids will walk home).
Excellent for a high school student looking to make some extra money with little commitment. Monday to Thursdays. Email T5812690@telus.net for more details.

Message from a local resident: If you live on 128th street/Marine Drive and are concerned about speeding vehicles and motorcycles the only way we will get speed monitoring is if we all call into the non-emergency police line when it happens.

We are all aware 128th street is a cruising route with this type of activity peaking in the summer, however, it is also a residential neighborhood with plenty of kids riding bikes and crossing the street. A little respect for our neighbourhood would be appreciated. Please call if you see this type of activity.

Break-Ins from Homes to Cars Happening in Ocean Park

A steady stream of messages have come in from local residents warning of thieves who appear to be very active right now. From cars taken right off the driveway, tools stolen from cars and houses broken into, it seems Ocean Park and surrounding areas are being targeted . We welcome the community to continue to keep each other aware of these acts and remember to always report any suspicious activity to the non-emergency police line at 604-599-0502. There more instances we report the more resources our community will receive to monitor this type of crime.

New Pre-school Program at Crescent Park Annex

The Ocean Park Community Association was recently notified of a new pre-school program taking place at Crescent Park Elementary Annex. The program (which has already started) is free to the public and is geared towards 3-4 year olds. Children will get a taste of early learning in this great heritage building. This program is by parent participation. Get all the details in the flyer and check out some photos of the Annex on twitter.

Street Sports – We Need Your Input!

The Ocean Park Community Association is considering a new project geared towards encouraging tweens and teens to play sports in a safe and visible environment. It was recently brought to the boards attention that many local kids cannot play safely on their streets, either due to high traffic volume or simply an unsafe street. The consideration of allowing youth to play street sports at the Ocean Park hall parking lot during times when the hall is not booked has recently been discussed. What are your thoughts? Is this a good idea? Would you consider helping to arrange this program? We would require a rotation of parent volunteers to go up to the hall and mark off the parking lot as well as get out the hockey nets etc. Let us know your thoughts/concerns! Anything is possible when people are willing to help.
