Tyler Dumont ~ Physiomoves

tyler-physiomoves-oceanpark

I opened the original Physiomoves Physiotherapy Clinic in 2007 in the Sullivan Station neighborhood of Surrey.  In 2010, my wife and I moved our family to Ocean Park (my wife grew up in South Surrey and thought it would be a great place to raise our three boys). We decided that Ocean Park would be an ideal location for a second clinic and in December, 2012, we opened our doors next to Schill Insurance at 1599 128 Street (sorry, we can’t accept your overdue DVD’s from the movie store!).

We have an exceptional team of experienced Physiotherapists that are ready and keen to work with patients at both locations. I have 21 years of experience as a Sports Physiotherapist and I am a Clinical Associate Professor at UBC (teaching our future Physiotherapists). Our Ocean Park Physiotherapists include Kjersti Redfearn, Jody Wiebe, and Jessica Deglau. They are all graduates of the UBC Master of Physical Therapy program and all have training in STOTT Clinical Pilates.   Kjersti is very active and enjoys working with athletes, children, patients with neurological problems, and older adults.  Jody has played high level soccer and is a busy mom. She is specially trained to deal with Women’s Health issues (e.g. incontinence, pelvic pain, prolapse), and has a special interest in treating patients with lymphedema, vestibular disorders, and orthopaedic injuries.   Jessica is a 2-time Olympian in swimming and enjoys treating active people of all ages with sports and orthopaedic injuries.  Check out more detailed bios of our team at www.physiomoves.com.

Both clinics are modern and have the latest equipment. Our individualized treatment approach is exercise-based, with hands-on-treatment, and the use of modalities as needed. Our treatment options include: therapeutic exercise prescription, manual therapy techniques, dry needling (IMS), mechanical traction (decompression therapy), education, athletic taping/K-taping, electrotherapeutic modalities (ultrasound, electrical muscle stimulation, cold laser, TENS), and Functional Movement Screening.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our exciting news and we look forward to working with you to achieve optimum health through evidence-based Physical Therapy.

Tyler Dumont, Physiomoves Physiotherapy Clinic Director,  BPE, BScPT, MSc, Diploma Sport Physiotherapist, CGIMS, FMS/SFMA, CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist), Clinical Associate Professor, UBC

OPBA Members of the Month ~ June 2014

OPBA = Our Passion Brings Awareness

OPBA Members of the Month ~ June 2014

This month we have two Members of the Month: Dave & Cindy Walker from Homelife Benchmark Realty White Rock, and Todd & Dinnae Galloway from 604 Website.

Dave & Cindy Walker ~ Homelife Benchmark Realty White Rock

 walker-homelife-benchmark-white-rock

The Walkers’ priority is to be pleasant, knowledgeable and hard-working to satisfy their clients’ needs, which has led to successful top producing careers in the local White Rock area.

Meet the Team:

Cindy Walker started in 1995 with one of the largest award winning companies in the area: HomeLife Benchmark Realty, selling 22 homes her first year, winning Rookie of the Year. Cindy has been a licensed mortgage broker for 10 years, working with Dominion Lending Centres Leading Edge.

Dave Walker joined Cindy 2 years later, retiring from 25 years of building and development in the local area. It’s been history ever since, and together they typically sell 60 to 80 homes each year.

Amanda Walker, their daughter, joined the team 10 years ago. She started working with Dave and Cindy’s clients, and then of course with her own clients. She has won HomeLife’s Silver Club Award the past 3 years running. Amanda has been Cindy’s 7 year licensed assistant with Dominion Lending Centres Leading Edge, which has been a tremendous benefit to their clients.

Iris Zhang joined the team last year to represent the Asian market and introduce clients to our Western homes.

Dave, Cindy, Amanda and Iris are detailed, advertise with traditional methods, produce glossy feature sheets, embrace technology offering professional live videos tours, photos, and floor plans, plus advertise their listings in popular Chinese papers to reach all prospective buyers.

“We believe today, it takes a team to sell real estate. We look forward to putting our multitude of experience to work for you, to obtain the highest possible price with the least amount of inconvenience along the way.”

Todd & Dinnae Galloway ~ 604 Website

604 Website ~ Websites by Your Ocean Park Neighbours

Todd and Dinnae are the husband and wife design team behind 604 Website.  Parents of three boys ranging in age from 3 1/2 to almost 8, they’ve been Ocean Park Neighbours since July 2013.  Having 3 boys, the Galloways are an active family.

You’ll likely see Todd road cycling or mountain biking around South Surrey, either solo or with Dr Coby Cragg of Ocean Park Dental.  Todd has raced in triathlons before, when he lived in Melbourne, Australia, and is currently training for the Vancouver Triathlon in September.  He also loves snowboarding (especially Mount Baker), the Canucks and Whitecaps, and basically ALL sports.  He’s been in web design since April 2004, only a couple of months after he met Dinnae on an online dating site.  He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Computing, specializes in security and usability for websites, and has had his own web business in some for or another since June 2006.  Todd is the tall Australian bloke you ask to get the jar of pickles off the top shelf at Safeway for you.

You can’t miss Dinnae around the Village – she’s the one with the blue mohawk.  You’ll see her training for the Lululemon SeaWheeze Half Marathon in August – either running, doing the 1001 steps with fellow mums from Ocean Cliff Elementary, or post-steps yoga on the grass at the end of 15A.  She is the new Co-Chair President of the Ocean Cliff Elementary Parent Advisory Council (alongside Nealy Cragg of Ocean Park Dental), and is also a certified Life Coach.  An artist her entire life, she is also a numbers and detail-oriented person, so web design is the perfect marriage of creativity, esthetics and logic for Dinnae.  She built her first website at age 19 by teaching herself HTML (the backbone code of the WWW), and has been blogging since 2004.  You’ll be glad to know that what she creates now is quite a bit more appealing than that original site 15 years ago.  A serial entrepreneur, Dinnae is also very passionate about online marketing (both in social media and conventional online methods) and to that end took a 2 year course in online marketing with a focus on empathy driven, passion-filled business with The School of Online Business.

604 Website came to life late in 2013 when Dinnae and Todd were brainstorming ways to help small business owners get QUALITY, budget-conscious websites.  Todd was hand-coding custom websites for his clients, and even though his prices were half what the firms in Vancouver charge, it was still a financial challenge for many entrepreneurs.  Having a quality website is SO important for business owners, and they heard story after story after story of clients dissatisfied with their website, or unable to afford one that didn’t look second rate – there HAD to be a way to help!

Five years ago, you could pick a template website from a mile away – they were plain, cookie cutter and forget it if you wanted any additional functionality.  Template sites made established businesses look like unprofessional amateurs, so custom was the only way to go, at a significant price tag.  However, with the exponential growth of WordPress from a simple blogging platform to a fully-fledged CMS (Content Management System), the increase of third-party plugins to create custom-like functionality, and the growth of the ready-made theme niche – it became possible for 604 Website to be born with the purpose to create websites that LOOK custom-built, but are created in half the time, and cost about half the price of a custom-built site.  There will always be a NEED for custom-built sites, and 604 Website can do those too, but for 99% of the small business owners out there, a premium theme-based site will work wonders for your business and save your pocket book too.

Let’s face it – the Internet is not going away, and a website is an imperative tool in your marketing arsenal.  Todd and Dinnae are always eager to educate clients and others about the World Wide Web and the importance of incorporating your website into your overall marketing plan.  604 Website specializes in creating goal-focused, beautiful and easy-to-use WordPress theme-based websites.  In today’s day and age, 604 Website strongly believe that mobile responsive sites (sites that look good on your phone!) are imperative to any website’s success, as is properly (and legally!) done SEO (Search Engine Optimization) that won’t get you black-balled by the search engines.

604 Website will be re-developing the Ocean Park Village website, so keep an eye out for a brand-new look for the site this summer!

Alexandra Neighbourhood House has been serving the communities of South Surrey and White Rock for almost one hundred years. Starting as a “fresh air camp” for orphans, the facility evolved into offering all sorts of residential camps, before finally becoming what it is today – an agency committed to delivering a full range of services and activities engaging and building up our shared community.

One example of this is Alex Fest, this year celebrating its fortieth anniversary, providing entertainment, education, and fun for the whole family.
