The Ocean Park Community Association is pleased to announce the Ocean Park Village website now offers Chinese language translation on select pages throughout the site. Simply toggle from English to Chinese by clicking on the flag icon in the top left corner of the website. The Association would like to thank our volunteers, particularly Adele and Alina, from Chinese Village Club for helping to facilitate the translation. It is our common goal to grow community and connect people and by breaking down language barriers we are moving closer to reaching our collective goals. To learn more about the great work of the Chinese Village Club visit their website here.

Do you have Ocean Park history to share?
The City of Surrey has hired a professional author of history books to write a book about Surrey History from the early days to this century. The book will come out in 2017 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Confederation. Writing is underway now.
The Archives is asking for photos, maps, documents, and more for the book, the older the better.
The Archives accepts donations of original old postcards, photos, tickets, events, deeds, and documents for their permanent collection.
Attached is an ad from the Peace Arch News about drop-in-sessions around Surrey, or if you have something that might be useful, send an email to Ryan Gallagher at Rgallagher@surrey.ca

Join the Ocean Park Community Association for the Heritage Tea, this Friday, May 6 from 3 – 5pm at the Ocean Park Hall and go back in time to the original Ocean Park. Details on the flyer:
We are looking to put together a volunteer work group to take care of either a designated area in Fun Fun Park or Kwomais Park. The group will be given formal training on how to clip ivy and remove other invasive species by the City of Surrey and then meet every two weeks over the late Spring and Summer to clear that space of invasive plants.
Once the group has successfully cleared the designated space the City of Surrey will host a pizza party and volunteers will get to put new native plants back into the forest! Think salmon and thimble berries and more lovely native plants.
This is a great way to get involved in the community, meet new neighbours and give back to this beautiful area.
If you would like to participate please email firstname.lastname@example.org
